Ainslie Family Practice reviews
47Dr Shilpa Dahal is an excellent doctor. Her perfect diagnosis and treatment greatly helped my son, who was suffering for last 6 months with skin condition. He is completely fine and we are relieved. Thanks
My appointment with Dr Shanika Samuel was great! She genuinely listened and was responsive to my concerns. Dr Samuel made me feel very comfortable:)
It seems that the degree of care you receive here varies enormously based on the GP. Please note that this is NOT a private owned practice any longer.
Based on my experience, you can only communicate with the GP (e.g. For clarifications) via the receptionist, tests results were communicated briefly via a SMS message, follow up vist got fully charged, GP forgot most of the issues that needed to be discussed and then.the time was up. The GP followed strictly the "10 min for patience" rule (imposed on practices owned by corporations) and since I needed longer I ended up paying for a long consultation (this was actually my follow up visit, I would have been OK with paying for a short consultation).
In summary, I would not reccomend this practice for complex issues.
I am giving 2 stars instead of 1 only because a previous experience with Dr. Shilpa was great.
Very friendly staff, the doctor looking after me was very considerate and caring. Highly recommend!
Professional, efficient and friendly, Ainslie Family Practice has been my preferred provider for many years, I highly recommend them.
The doctors and staff at Ainslie family practice are total professionals, compassionate and understanding. Highly recommend
As I said when asked for an opinion on a previous occasion, I have been attending this practice for more than 10 years and have invariably found it to have friendly and professional staff.
The practice has always looked after this elderly man, well.
Bruce Bowman.
Appalling bedside manner from the doctor I saw recently. Unnecessarily condescending and dismissive. Absolutely not coming back to this practice.
Been going to Ainslie Family Practice for more than 15 years and always found the reception staff to be friendly and helpful. Never had a problem about waiting to see Dr as you have to wait at most practice's.
The fact they are called Ainslie Family Practice but don’t bulk bill children’s appointments is an irony that won’t be lost on any new patients.
The most consistent service they offer is price gouging.
Excellent practice. Doctor was prompt. Went overtime ensuring everything was done. Extremely happy. He was very professional
Surgery had availability when I needed it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Appointment was on time and Dr was thorough in my assessment, patient and listened to my concerns before providing a script. Very happy with this service and would come back again without any hesitation.
This was my first visit. Very efficient check in. Very welcoming. Didn’t have to wait long. Dr was fantastic.
Getting through on the phone to reception can take a while at times. The regular reception staff are helpful and accommodating with regular patients but some younger staff can be inflexible and unhelpful. Doctor turnover seems unusually high but I’ve been fortunate to have the same GP for 4 years. Generally, I’m treated with respect and compassion by both reception and GP. Sometimes it’s difficult to get an appointment when you want it but that seems to be the price you pay to get exceptional ongoing medical support.
I went to this practice for the first time, I arrived at 1.45pm for a 2.00pm appointment, and I checked in with reception. After seeing patients that arrived after me, see the doctor before me, I was confused and presumed they had appointments with other doctors. At 2.45pm I politely asked reception if I should move my car because I had been there for an hour and hadn’t seen the doctor yet. At 3.10pm I asked a different receptionist if the wait would be much longer, as my appointment was for an hour and 10 mins prior. After a lot of clicking I was told I was next and it shouldn’t be much longer. At 3.25pm I saw the doctor. After the consult I asked him if there was an error in the system, because I had been waiting for an hour and 40 mins. He was appalled that I had waited for so long, and said that he had been waiting for me. I can only assume that reception hadn’t actually checked me in. After my consult I said to reception that there must have been an error in the system, because I had been waiting for so long and the doctor was waiting for me. The receptionist didn’t offer an apology, and charged me for the full consult. I would have been happy with an apology, and even happier with a reduced fee, given I wasn’t late for the appointment, saw every patient with an appointment after mine see the same doctor, and waited for an hour and 25 minutes after my appointment time, only to be told by the doctor that he was waiting for me. I will not be going back because of the terrible response from the practice. I understand mistakes are made, but they did nothing to remedy the poor service, especially when I had gently reminded reception a couple of times that I had been waiting for a long time and hadn’t seen the doctor, which was very unpleasant given I was sick and this was the reason for seeing the doctor.
We love this practice and Dr Justin Sissing in particular (not sure if he is still there). We live interstate but have had to take our little boy to the practice twice - once as an infant and once as a toddler. The doctor remembered him! And the quality of care and expertise has been exceptional. Thank you.
Dr. Dahal was an approachable and warm hearted doctor I met so far. She explained to me everything and is so assuring.
Have been visiting this Practice for over 15 years and have always been quite satisfied apart from the waiting times. The first time I have ever requested a prescription be written for me 3 days after a Doctors visit as I didn’t realise that I was on my last repeat. Rang 6 days ago and have followed up with 2 phone calls with no response. So it looks like the only way I will get this script is to make an appointment and pay the $90.00 concession fee. Lesson learned always check your supply of scripts before you attend your Doctor’s appointment.
An extremely detailed record keeping, verification and highlighting changes, carried out by the nurse and completed by the GP. Provides a feeling of security.
Dr. Shilpa is very kind, helpful and understanding, probably the best Dr I've had for mental health. I will never go back to public.
